Wine Review. Old and Gnarly!

Old and gnarly!

I love California! I was recently in Lodi, California and it reminded me of the many wonderful visits I have taken to this part of the world when I judged wines for the California State Fair. The Lodi area is south of Sacramento and is famous for the old vine zinfandel grown here. I adore these gnarly, thick, low yielding old vines.

Gnarly old Zinfandel vines in Lodi

Ravenswood Vintners Blend Old Vine Zinfandel is from Lodi. This bold red is intense at 13.6%. It has forward berry aromas, concentrated plum and vanilla flavours and a long soft spicy finish.

If you are looking for a red wine for a turkey dinner, try this! It also pairs well with grilled meats, pasta with red sauce and aged cheddar.

Cheers,
